Washington, D.C. – Avalere Health LLC announced that it has hired health information technology (HIT) expert, Protima Advani, as a vice president in its Healthcare Networks practice. The practice provides strategic guidance based on policy and analytics to its hospital and health system clients. Advani's vast experience in the provider space, and specifically in HIT, will be an invaluable asset as Avalere helps clients navigate strategic and regulatory issues.

"We are delighted that Protima is coming aboard at Avalere," said Erik Johnson, senior vice president of the Healthcare Networks Practice. "Her decade of experience in advising health systems on the effective use of HIT occurred during a period of tremendous change in the healthcare economy, when HIT became central to payment and delivery reform. Her capabilities and insights will be immensely valuable as we serve health systems across the country."

Ms. Advani comes to Avalere from the Advisory Board Company (ABC) where she was research director of their IT Strategy Council and the leader of their Meaningful Use Navigator business. Advani was with ABC for 10 years providing strategic and operational guidance to providers and the healthcare vendor community on a variety of topics, from capital prioritization to performance management, to realizing the value of HIT and laying the IT foundation for accountable care. Prior to her work at ABC, Advani was an independent consultant for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Veterans Health Administration.

Advani has a master's degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania and has a B.S. in mathematics, economics, and finance from West Virginia Wesleyan College.
