Tanisha Carino, Ph.D., Senior Vice President, leads Avalere´s Center on Evidence-Based Medicine and Health Information Technology. She directs the firm´s strategic work in Comparative Effectiveness Research, Medicare coverage policy, health information technology, quality measurement and value-based purchasing.
A frequent contributor to health policy journals, Tanisha also focuses on the evolution of public and private payers´ use of evidence for formulating coverage and reimbursement decisions, and trends in quality improvement initiatives, specializing in the Medicare program.
Prior to joining Avalere, Tanisha was a policy analyst in the Coverage and Analysis Group at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, where she served as a methodological lead for national coverage determinations and assessments of potential clinical protocols. As an Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality research fellow and Fulbright scholar, she developed expertise in health services research and the politics of U.S. and international coverage policies and health technology assessment. Tanisha has also worked as an analyst for Abt Associates, where she focused on evaluation of Medicare and Medicaid provider payment systems.
