Global Pre-Payment: A New Chapter in Capitation?

A primary goal of the Affordable Care Act is to contain rising healthcare costs. Many believe a key to achieving this goal is to realign financial incentives for providers to deliver high-quality care in a cost-effective manner through payment reforms. Upcoming demonstration and pilot projects will test a variety of payment reform models in Medicare, Medicaid, and the private sector, including global payments that would hold providers accountable for the cost and quality of the care provided to an assigned patient population. Some stakeholders, however, caution that global payment resembles capitation too closely, and are skeptical that these experiments will yield a different – and positive – result.

Cancellation Policy: To receive a refund, notice is required at least seven business days prior to the audio conference. With proper notice, fees are refunded minus a $40 service fee.
