As the use of biotechnology products proliferate in the healthcare system, both Medicare and private insurers are looking at how to best develop and evaluate evidence concerning the appropriate use of biopharmaceuticals and how to incorporate this evidence into their coverage decision-making processes.  Experts from Avalere Health, academia, and the federal government discussed the use of evidence in coverage decision-making beyond what is typically required for FDA approval process; challenges and rationale for coverage with evidence development (CED); trends in private sector coverage decision-making; and future policy and business implications.
