Analysis of Federal Activity in Comparative Effectiveness Research /

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) allocated an unprecedented $1.1 billion toward comparative effectiveness research (CER).  Since then, three federal agencies – the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) – have outlined their intended uses of funds and started to announce awards for grants and contracts to conduct original research, translate and disseminate findings, and build a more robust data infrastructure.

Which therapeutic areas are of immediate federal interest?  What is the balance between evaluation of medical technology versus delivery systems?  What investments are being made in a CER infrastructure?  What do experts think of current ARRA investments’ potential impact of on providers, patients, payers, and industry going forward?

Join Avalere Health for a 90 minute interactive audio conference that will discuss:

  • New Avalere analysis of NIH, AHRQ, and HHS investment to date
  • Perspective from the federal government on its priorities, investment principles, and progress
  • Stakeholder reaction to current ARRA investment in CER
  • Discussion of the future of federally funded CER beyond ARRA
