Dr. Ines Maria Vigil obtained her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of New Mexico-School of Medicine in 2005. Dr. Vigil then went on to complete a transitional year internship at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, New York and a residency in General Preventive Medicine at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland. In addition to her residency training, Dr. Vigil completed a Master’s in Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and a Master’s in Business Administration from the Carey Business School of Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Vigil’s specialty is General Preventive Medicine with a particular interest in health promotion, wellness and population health management.

Dr. Vigil has worked with many organizations, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Indian Health Service, as well as a number of local and state Departments of Health. She has received a number of awards for her work, including the Institute of Public Health Medical Student Research Projects in Health Disparities Grant, the 2005 APHA Latino Caucus Outstanding Student Award, an SNMA Dr. Wilbert C. Jordan Research Award, the 2005 UNM-SOM Outstanding Research in Public Health Award, and a JHSPH General Preventive Medicine Residency Award.

Dr. Vigil was born in Taos, New Mexico and graduated from Sarah Lawrence College with a Bachelor’s degree of Liberal Arts with a concentration in Health Policy and Chemistry.
