Francine R. Kaufman

Dr. Francine Kaufman is a pediatric endocrinologist as well as Distinguished Professor of Pediatrics and Communications at the Keck School of Medicine and the Annenberg School of Communications at the University of Southern California. She also serves as Director of the Comprehensive Childhood Diabetes Center and the Head of the Center for Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. Dr. Kaufman served as national President of the American Diabetes Association in 2002-2003. She is Chair of the National Diabetes Education Program, has been a member of the board of directors of Shaping America’s Health since 2005, and Chair of the Youth Consultative Section of the International Diabetes Federation. Dr. Kaufman has been the recipient of numerous honors, including The Woman of Valor Award (2003) from the American Diabetes Association. In 2008, she received the humanitarian award from the Starlight Starbright Foundation. In May 2009, Dr. Kaufman will become Chief Medical Officer and VP of Global Medical Affairs for Medtronic Diabetes, based in Northridge, Calif.
