Valerie Barton

Valerie Barton, Vice President, leads Avalere’s Data Analytics, which works as a complement to the firm’s strategic advisory services by using public and proprietary datasets, including Avalere’s DataFrame™ database, to model the impact of policy change on both clients’ businesses and the federal budget.  Valerie has more than 10 years of experience in health policy analysis and strategy development.

Prior to joining Avalere, Valerie was a Senior Manager with The Lewin Group, where she directed large, multi-year projects on hospital payment and staffing, evidence-based medicine, and medical technologies for both private and public sector clients.  Valerie has extensive experience in Medicare payment policy, having worked in the federal government to develop and launch Medicare prospective payment systems for hospital outpatient departments, skilled nursing facilities, and inpatient rehabilitation facilities.

Valerie received a M.A. in Economics from the Pennsylvania State University and graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. in Economics and East Asian Studies from the University of Pittsburgh.
