Bob Atlas, Senior Vice President, is a member of Avalere’s executive leadership team. He directs the firm’s Medicare practice and oversees strategic initiatives focused on managed care, health systems, and health data analysis.

Bob joined Avalere in 2005.  He has three decades of experience in strategy, policy analysis, program development, and performance improvement for healthcare providers, payers, and policymakers.  He was previously president of The Lewin Group. Over the course of a lengthy consulting career, Bob has advised hundreds of clients across the United States — health insurers and managed care plans, hospitals and health systems, pharmaceutical manufacturers, professional healthcare providers, trade and professional associations, investment firms, and local, state, and federal government health agencies.
 
A nationally recognized expert in health insurance innovations, Medicare and Medicaid managed care, prescription drug benefits, and the healthcare safety net, Bob has published and presented extensively for leading health industry audiences.

In the late 1970s, before entering the consulting profession, Bob served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Public Health Service.  He worked in Medicare's Health Standards and Quality Bureau and the Office of HMOs.

Bob received a B.A. in Economics from Oberlin College and a M.B.A. in Health Administration and Finance from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.
