Wally Boston

President and CEO, American Public University System

Wally is President and Chief Executive Officer of American Public University System (APUS) and its parent company, American Public Education, Inc. He has led APEI through a period of rapid growth, and the company’s initial public offering on the NASDAQ Exchange.

In his career prior to APEI and APUS, Wally served as either CFO, COO, or CEO of Meridian Healthcare, Manor Healthcare, Neighborcare Pharmacies, and Sun Healthcare Group.

Wally is a member of the West Virginia Governor’s Advisory Council for Technology in Education and serves as a board member of the Education Alliance and the Gateway New Economy Council; he is a past Treasurer of the Board of Trustees of McDonogh School. Wally is a graduate of Duke University, Tulane University’s Freeman School of Business Administration, and the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education.

Dan Mendelson

CEO, Avalere Health

Dan
Mendelson

Dan is CEO of Avalere Health. He leads the firm’s operations, and engages in strategic advisory work for major clients in life sciences, managed care, and the provider segments. Prior to founding Avalere in 2000, Dan served as Associate Director for Health at the White House Office of Management and Budget. 

Dan presently serves on the board of directors of two public companies: HMS Holdings and Champions Oncology.  He previously served on the boards of Coventry Healthcare (2005-2013) and Pharmerica (2007-2011).   

Dan is also presently Adjunct Professor of Business Administration at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. Dan speaks frequently and is often quoted in the media on business strategy and public policy matters – typically highlighting the outstanding analytic work of the Avalere staff.  He has a BA in Economics and Viola Performance from Oberlin College, and a MPP from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

John Neeson

Co-Founder, SiriusDecisions

John is co-founder of SiriusDecisions, a leading source for business-to-business sales and marketing best-practice research and data.

Prior to founding SiriusDecisions, John spent 12 years at Gartner Group as a member of the company’s senior management team. As one of the five officers of the company, John was instrumental in helping Gartner grow from $15 million in yearly sales to $800 million through the development of the company’s brand strategy and the creation of concepts such as Enterprise Resource Planning. John also previously served as chief executive officer of Skila, a SaaS provider of business intelligence solutions for the pharmaceutical, medical device and biotechnology industries.

John has served as a board member for Jupiter Communications, and also has been an advisor to several start-up companies. He is founder of Executive Edge magazine, a joint venture between Gartner Group and Forbes. John received a BA in economics from Ithaca College.

John Stobo

General Partner, ABS Capital

John is a Managing General Partner at ABS Capital Partners. Since joining ABS Capital in 1993, he has been involved in over 20 portfolio company investments for the firm, with a specialty in healthcare companies. Prior to joining ABS Capital, John worked in Alex. Brown & Sons Inc.’s Health Care Investment Banking Group where he advised clients on public offerings and M&A strategies.

John currently represents ABS Capital on the boards of Athletes’ Performance, Inc. Avalere Health, Inc. and Pathology Inc. and works with Healthation, Inc. His former board memberships include American Esoteric Laboratories, Inc., CBR Systems, Inc., Omnicell, Inc. (NASDAQ:OMCL), Source Medical Solutions, Inc., Superior Vision Services, Inc. and US LABS. He is a graduate of University of California, San Diego and the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University.

Eva Teig Hardy

Policy and Communications Executive

Eva is a veteran policy and communications executive with deep background in how government and business interact and influence one another. She spent nearly two decades in local and state government, most notably serving as the Virginia Secretary of Health and Human Resources under Governor Gerald L. Baliles; and another two decades as a corporate executive. At her retirement, she was Executive Vice President for Dominion Resources and responsible for the company’s external policy, communications, and philanthropic activities.

Recently Eva served as interim state director for U.S. Sen. Mark R. Warner. She serves on several boards including the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Foundation, the Oliver Hill Foundation, the George Washington Foundation, and the Virginia Holocaust Museum. She has served as vice chair of the State Council of Higher Education and on the Board of Trustees of her alma mater, Hood College. Eva is a graduate of Hood College and American University.

Tim Weglicki

Founding Partner, ABS Capital

Tim is a Founding Partner of ABS Capital Partners. He works closely with his companies to guide them through strategic initiatives, including re-focusing business models on improved margins, reorganizing compensation structures to drive growth, and advising on strategic transactions that build and achieve value.

Prior to joining ABS Capital, Tim spent 16 years at Alex. Brown & Sons Incorporated, most recently as the head of Alex. Brown's Capital Markets Group which included its investment banking, equity sales and trading, research and corporate fixed income activities.  Tim helped build a knowledge-based, relationship-focused investment banking and capital markets franchise that assisted leading growth company management teams through a myriad of successful capital raises and strategic M&A transactions.

Tim currently serves on the boards of Alarm.com (observer), American Public Education, Inc, Avalere Health, ConnectYourCare, and PaySpan Holding Corp. He is a graduate of The Johns Hopkins University and The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
